Signify Acquires Firefly, its Second LiFi Company

EXCLUSIVE:  MUST CREDIT LiFiREPORT.  Our sister company, LiFiReport, can confirm that Signify has acquired Firefly LiFi.  According to their website, Firefly has an office in San Diego as well as Germany.

We can confirm that the transaction has already occurred.  In February of 2017, Signify (then Philips Lighting) acquired a small French LiFi company, Luciom.

In addition, the CEO of Firefly LiFi, Heinzz Willebrand, has changed his Linkedin title to “Chief Evangelist LiFi Systems at Signify.”

We spoke to Elco van Groningen, the Signify Senior Office Press Manager, who explained, “We want to be THE lighting company in IoT so the expertise from Firefly LiFi will help accelerate our developments.  It was a very strategic acquisition.”

Mr. van Groningen is located in Amsterdam. After our conversation, Mr. van Groningen emailed the following statement:

“Signify’s strategy is to focus on lighting products, systems and services and connected LED lighting the aiming to become the leading lighting company in the Internet of Things. 

The acquisition of Firefly’s technology is in line with this strategy. It will allow us to complement and strengthen our expertise and accelerate our LiFi innovations.

Signify has acquired Firefly’s assets related to LiFi, including a small number of its employees.   The transaction was completed on December 17, 2018. Financial details were not disclosed.”

Australian IoT vendor Buddy acquires lighting company LIFX for $51m
Australian Internet of Things (IoT) vendor Buddy Platform on Wednesday announced that it has entered into a binding agreement to fully acquire San Francisco-headquartered smart lighting vendor LIFX for about $51 million in a cash and stock transaction.

Arkansas Lighting Acquires Prima Lighting

Arkansas Lighting has announced this week the acquisition of Prima Lighting, effective on March 1, 2019, significantly expanding its combined
product offering and customer base.

Chicago firm acquires Kenall Lighting headquarters in Kenosha

enall Lighting Inc.’s headquarters, manufacturing and distribution facility in Kenosha has been acquired by joint venture partnership consisting of Chicago-based Clear Height Properties and Israel-based Buligo Capital Partners.

The sale price for the 354,000-square-foot facility was not disclosed.

The acquisition represents an expanding acquisition philosophy for Clear Height Properties and may be the first in a series of acquisitions being targeted by the Clear Height-Buligo Capital joint venture.

Stone Arch Capital, a Minneapolis-based private equity firm, has partnered with experienced lighting executive David Komonosky to acquire Delray Lighting (“Delray” or the “Company”). Delray is a leading manufacturer of energy-efficient, specification grade, architectural LED lighting fixtures.

ERP Power Acquires Lumenetix

Delta Acquisition of Amerlux Closes

Delta Electronics, Inc., a global provider of power and thermal management solutions, today announced it has closed the acquisition of Amerlux LLC, a U.S.-based LED architectural lighting solutions company. Under the terms of the transaction, Delta Electronics (Netherlands) B.V., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Delta, acquired 100% of Amerlux’s interests.

The acquisition will benefit customers through the form of a broader portfolio of Delta IoT-enabled smart green solutions for sustainable buildings and cities, which includes building automation, energy management, commercial and industrial LED lighting, surveillance, as well as indoor environmental quality systems.

H.E. Williams, Inc. Acquires Platformatics, Inc.

H.E. Williams, Inc. is pleased to announce the acquisition of Platformatics, Inc., a provider of network-based systems for the smart building Internet of Things (IoT) industry.

The Platformatics solutions improve end-user comfort, productivity and safety through Power over Ethernet (PoE) connectivity. PoE provides a standardized infrastructure for LED lighting, HVAC, security and other building systems.

This acquisition further supports Williams’s leadership in the growing low-voltage PoE lighting market and positions Platformatics to drive innovation for intelligent buildings.

HazLoc Industries Acquires Paramount Industries

HazLoc Industries, LLC., a provider of Harsh and Hazardous Lighting solutions, and Paramount Industries Inc., a U.S. based High Performance and Harsh Environment lighting solutions company, today announced the execution of a purchase agreement in which Hazloc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of BLG Inc., acquired Paramount Industries Inc. The transaction was completed on April 5th, 2019.

HazLoc’s President, Mr. Glenn Garbowicz, indicated that the acquisition provides an immediate platform to launch several new product families currently in development for Class 1, Div. 1 and Class 1, Div.2 Hazardous applications alongside the existing Paramount line. Mr. Garbowicz remarked “We are extremely excited about building a brand with a 70-year history of continuous innovation, unmatched durability and outstanding customer service. Signify Acquires WiZ Connected to Further Expand its Leadership in Connected Lighting

 Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, has agreed to acquire WiZ Connected, developers of the WiZ Wi-Fi-based connected lighting ecosystem. The addition of WiZ enables Signify to extend its leadership by stepping into the Wi-Fi-based smart lighting market.
