What is LED architectural linear lighting?
Architectural linear lighting refers to high-specification luminaires designed to integrate seamlessly with the structural elements of a building. These systems provide elegant, continuous lines of light that serve as both a functional utility and a design statement. Engineered to comply with strict office lighting norms (such as UGR < 19), they offer uniform light distribution that fosters occupant focus and productivity while meeting North American energy-saving standards like ASHRAE 90.1.
Where should architectural linear lighting be applied?
Our systems offer a wide range of direct/indirect light distributions with independent up/down circuiting for ultimate environmental control. Available in standard 2’, 3’, 4’, and 8’ individual units or customized Continuous Runs, they are the preferred choice for:
-
Corporate Open Offices: Reducing glare on screens and improving task performance.
-
Educational Facilities: Providing even illumination for classrooms and modern libraries.
-
Healthcare & Hospitality: Creating clean, calming corridors and sophisticated lobby entrances.
-
Retail & Galleries: Utilizing asymmetric lensing for precise wall-washing and product highlighting.
What are “Continuous Run” configurations?
A Continuous Run is a modular system where multiple linear fixtures are joined together to create a seamless, infinite line of light. Unlike standalone fixtures, our system features a specialized quick-connect joiner that prevents light leakage at the seams. This allows architects to design long, uninterrupted runs or complex geometric patterns (L, T, or X shapes) that maintain visual continuity throughout a space.
What dimming and control systems are supported?
To meet the smart-building requirements of the US and Canadian markets, our linear fixtures come standard with flicker-free 0-10V dimming (down to 1% or 10%). They are fully compatible with major control ecosystems including Lutron, Leviton, and Crestron, as well as daylight harvesting sensors and occupancy controls to maximize energy credits.
Are these fixtures compliant with North American energy rebate programs?
Yes. Most of our architectural linear models are DLC Premium qualified and UL/cUL Listed. This is critical for project owners because it ensures the fixtures are eligible for significant energy rebates from local utility companies, effectively lowering the total cost of the lighting project.
Can I specify different lens types within the same run?
Absolutely. Our modular “Gemini” and “Fornax” series allow for interchangeable optics. You can transition from a flush lens for general lighting to a regressed lens for anti-glare task areas, or even a drop-lens for a decorative “glow” effect, all within the same continuous housing profile.
How do Direct/Indirect distributions work?
Direct/Indirect lighting provides light both downwards (Direct) toward the workspace and upwards (Indirect) toward the ceiling. The indirect component reflects off the ceiling to create soft, ambient light that reduces harsh shadows and makes a room feel larger. Our fixtures allow for independent circuiting, meaning you can dim the uplight and downlight separately to create the perfect balance for any time of day.
